Mascot Naming Contest: Happening this week

Spirit Day: Friday November 22nd is our 2nd spirit day “Sports Day”

Family Movie Night: Friday, December 6th. Doors open at 6pm, Movie starts at 6:30pm. Please attend with your children, this is not a drop-off event. Bring chairs and blankets. Snacks and drinks will be for sale and you are welcome to bring your own.

Spirit Clothing: Still for sale! Check the website for ongoing promotions and discount clothing. Be on the lookout for a new logo in the new year!

Gratitude: Thank you all for being such an amazing community. We are in the groove at school, and all is going well. Family support at home and in the classroom is absolutely invaluable and is sincerely appreciated. 

Orca Pride Notes: Part of schoolwide comprehensive behaviour program, to raise awareness of all the good things our kids are doing. Every adult staff member has access to the pride notes, in order to recognize specific moments where students are being Respectful/Caring/Accepting/Safe. Students get a raffle ticket for each pride note and then are entered into a drawing every friday. Winning students are recognized during Friday announcements. 

Staff shirts: Thank you to the PCEP for the MW staff shirts. The staff is loving them!

Volunteering Story  7:17pm – 7:20pm

Mrs Douglas’ class had an unusually high amount of families this year that couldn’t do rotations. They were trying to troubleshoot, but several people on the all school volunteer list volunteered to be long-term subs for her classroom. Thank you Sachi Webb, Rhiannon Kruse, Christi Mullet, Diana Pham, Carly Nall, Andrea Hartgraves. 

School Auction  7:20pm – 7:25pm

It was a long road, but the event was a great success, and $29,667.96 was raised!

Thank you to the entire auction committee, everyone who contributed items to the auction, and everyone who bid or attended the auction.Reserved Parking Space: The Bui family won the parking space for this year. If you want it next year, you have to win it at next year’s auction. 

Scholastic Book Fair  7:25pm – 7:31pm

Thank you to everyone that contributed and attended, the event was fantastic! Many books were bought and contributed to classrooms. Lines were short, pastries were delicious. We were able to add about $3k to the school library, which is about 175 new books. 

ORCA All-Stars  7:31pm – 7:35pm

This month’s winners for ORCA All-Stars: Brisa McDowell, Chris Jobe, and Tiffanie Hopkins. Please continue to nominate people for their awesome and possibly unrecognized volunteerism. Nomination slips and the All-Star box are in the parent room and at the parent meetings.

Pledges are up. 19 new pledge participants for October. Reminder to reach out to the Treasury team if you need reimbursement. Please don’t wait to submit.

Tax Issue: We are holding off on creating a surplus committee for the $3k-ish surplus funds. Once we get an answer from the IRS, we will move forward with the surplus committee as long as the surplus funds still exist. 

Parent Meetings: We will not have a parent meeting in December, so we will see you all in January.
